Color & paint information for the Rock Island, GP35.
Most of the photos I find on FFs...I can't tell if it's brown, a different shade red, or what.  Also the yellow, I'm not sure of either.
Thanks in advance for help.

Good advice to check out the photos.  I can say that the base clor is a maroon but the shade will depend on how much sun it's gotten.  The yellow someone else will have to comment on.

Some say Rock Island, Lackawanna, and Boston & Maine maroon are the same. EMD used a somewhat limited pallette in the early days.

If you are looking for paint for models check Tru Color's site.    They have the colors you are looking for.

Thats the best way as photos are seldom true due to lighting and if taken by a slide or negative camera most film has a color shift in it. Just a thought cant remember which is what Kodak film had that shift.

First, you have to decide if you want a fresh, new, unit or a worn one in service.  The maroon on 1960s Rock Island diesels often oxidized into a very brown color after a few years out in the weather.
