What are your thoughts on these HO Pass cars???
Author: Streamliner

I have been far removed from being involved with current HO products over the past 15 years and would like some advice from some of you guys who are so in the know on this subject:

1.  The Athearn Genesis, HO, RTR streamline passenger cars that came in the royal blue boxes with the gold trim:  Great?  Good?  Bad?  Horrible?

2.  The MTH HO SP Daylight, HO passenger cars:  Great?  Good?  Bad?  Horrible?

3.  The Broadway Limited HO, SP Daylight "add-on" cars for the above MTH cars:  Great?  Good?  Bad?  Horrible?

Thanks very much!

i think the MTH Daylight cars were far better than the BLI cars. they had a better connection for the articulated cars. If BLI cars came apart, it was a pain to put back together. The MTH cars were not lettered in the correct font from what people went out of their way to tell me.
As lot of people can't get over their dislike of Mike at MTH, so that clouds their judgement of the cars.

I have one Broadway Limited SP Daylight articulated chair car I run in a passenger train on curves down to a 22 inch radius in 2 places on my layout. They are coupled to non-BL non-articulated passenger cars. After a little track work to correct where they derailed they now track perfectly and look beautiful. I also rubbed a light film of graphite on their diaphragms. They are excellent cars.

I have a few Athearn cars and they are excellent.
Too bad they could not have done at least a few of the others: diner, articulated chair, tavern, and parlor/observation.

I have one of the Genesis cars and the complete MTH Daylight set and have no real complaints. I think some of the MTH steam couplers fell off and the roof handrails flexed a bit during hot spells but neither are deal breakers.

The Athearn cars have been about the same for years low quality detail among other things.

The only Genesis Passenger cars I can recall were the SP 77 footers.
