Model Railroading > Conrail Auto Parts Boxcar (Tangent)

Tangent 8 door auto parts boxcar.  About 9 - 10 hours actually working away at it, plus drying time in between layers of weathering, so just over a week altogether from beginning to end.

VERY nice.

Very convincing, did you have prototype photos or is this created out of typical weathering patterns you see or have photos of?
In particular I see what looks like a new brake wheel gear housing on the B end.  Did your prototype have that?

Thanks for looking and commenting.  As to your quetions, prototype photo from rrpicturearchives for one side, a bit more generic for the 2nd side as I had a harder time finding photos of similar cars in the same number range.  As for the brake wheel, it's what came on the model and I have no idea if it matches the prototype.  It's a Tangent model, and they're really well done, so maybe.  Honestly, it never occurred to me to be concerned about that.

Thanks Dave.  To fade and flatten down the brown, I used FolkArt Terra Cotta, which is an acrylic craft type paint.  I thin it right down with tap water, and run it through my airbrush, building it up in a number of light layers on the model.  Yes, it takes a little while, but there's no rush and the results are much better than just recklessly slapping paint all over the thing as some do.
