P14 Sunbeam vs GS4 Daylight. Compare and Contrast

Show your work.

P-14 is a brass Hallmark 4-6-2 T&NO (SP) pacific of the type that pulled the Dallas-Houston
Sunbeam, custom painted by a friend of mine in Dallas, remotored with can motor and
TCS WoW sound installed.

GS4 is a stock 4-8-4 MTH product that a friend brought over to my layout this afternoon.
I have never seen nor operated a MTH product, but was very impressed with the model.
It ran flawlessly today and sounded great.  I have heard bad stories about MTH electronics
and this one is fresh and new from the box so has almost no run time on it yet, but it sure
ran good today.  A neat feature is the cab lighting and cab details, and the talking trainmen
was unique too, though for long periods of running time I probably would turn that off.

Although I've never been a big fan of the streamlined Pacific's, that seems to be a beautiful model, worthy of a clear unobstructed shot.

I have one of the earlier versions of the MTH Daylights and it is amazingly weighted and runs super smooth. Pulls my ten car Daylight just fine. Looks good too, especially with the MTH Daylight set behind it. Electronics drive me nuts though and I often run it on mute. Hopefully the later versions sound better and are more reliable. One day I'll tackle it with a state of the art decoder.

Thanks for sharing this cool shot.

The Daylight logo on the side of the GS-4 is backwards.  The wings always trail back from the ball.

The one on the Sunbeam is correct.

Checkimg the MTH literature, it looks like they got it right, so I
wonder if this is a user applied decal.  My friend is going to have
meltdown when he finds out he got the two reversed.

I don't know which is which but the far one has a nose that looks like the top of a toy rocket.

My late friend Jack Coleman painted many a Daylight paint scheme as one of Bobbye Hall's custom painters.  Thanks for posting pictures of two beautiful locomotives.

Great models and photo.  I've not seen a model Sunbeam Pacific before so that's refreshing.

Here's an old video I have that shows the logo correctly applied by MTH.

As requested here is the P14.  It runs like a Swiss watch and WoW sound completes the package.
