Model Railroading > Huh?

I'm looking at the web address, since deleted for (Russiachild.fun) the price and the number reportedly in stock (100)... for Tomar 842 signals. This is an item that is almost impossible to get anywhere right now. (I did snag three on eBay the other day.)

I second that. Looks like a great website to catch a virus and/or get a lot of random charges on your credit card.

Certainly wouldn't order anything from them. I would also remove the link to minimize risk to other TO users.

The web site is probably a fake.

- The street address listed does not appear to exist. It looks like they picked house numbers, street names and the zip code in some random manner.
- The zip code listed is a fake, as there is no zip code 84342 according to the US Postal Service.
- The phone number is suspect, especially the 844 area code.
- The web site appears to be hosted out of San Francisco CA but an IP address can be spoofed so who knows really where they might be.
- Searching the domain "russiachild.fun"  brings up some other web stores that would appear to be scam sites.

I do agree with the other posters. DO NOT send them any money or credit card information!

Why don't you check here: https://www.ebay.com/usr/j-tprantle/   They are the folks that acquired the Tomar and Utah Pacific Lines.

I have ordered from them many times; they are very reputable sellers and provide excellent customer service.

I have. They said they are six months behind. I posted this because of the audacity of this fake site (russiachild.fun) and the fact that reported it had 100 of this one item in stock. Even before Tomar was sold, there is no way that any supplier would have had that many of that signal on hand.

Trainorders removed the link from my post. Sorry if I put anyone in danger. Perhaps Russia is desperate for money to support its troops.

Nah, my track gang (me) is moving right along. I now have two semaphores I need for my crossing of the Erie at Markle and one for North Marion, but need one more for the latter location. I am looking forward to adding a doll post on one of the signals at Markle with a simulated blue lantern. The real timers on the tower board at Fort Wayne Union Jct. are installed and I have a coworker coming over to hoist it back up. (Those five antique timers with their glass covers weigh almost 14 pounds each.)

Tom, unlike Victor, I have 8 single-blade and 8 double-blade Tomar semaphores sitting in the unopened box underneath my train table.  Yes, my scientific consulting business has kept me busy most of each day and evening.  The big problem is getting the supports made that hold the servo motors that drive the blades.  Unlike the days when I was in industry, I don't have the machinists and electronics technicians to do the job.  I don't relish the thought of having to use Tortoise switch machines to move the blades.

Well, John, as another alternative, Tomar did make a complete mechanism with a switchmaster motor and frame. It was kit No. 849, I believe.

To see if a new (to me) website is legit, I use:

Attached is the report for the russianchild.fun site.  

Just copy and paste the URL and it uses an algorithm to rate how much the website can be trusted.  Before I send money to a new site, I always use this to check if it is legit.

Victor, I know I have read about your project in the past, but don 't remember the details. Can you give me a thumbnail sketch of the railroad, and do you have a map for it? I love anything rail, real or imagined that takes place in our little corner of the world.
