Travel day from Bridgetown, part 2. Oakridge OR. Bob’s world
Author: dmaffei

The railroad town of Oakridge usually has a helper set waiting for the call to help UP trains over the hill, but little do most people know, one of the largest N scale model railroads in the west is just across the road. An article in N scale railroading magazine November December 2018 covered the layout, but much more has been finished since then. Four levels in a large building with steps and ramps to access each level. Here are some photos from our Sunday afternoon visit
photo two is crew lounge
photo three is looking down from top level to crew lounge with one more level below not shown. Wow! In N scale

Bob Sanchez has all western railroads on this layout. Let's start with San Francisco area
1) Mission bay
2) a look at this level
3) China basin area

First two are of the ore loader. Third photo is a beet field with Mt. Loder in distance. Yes! Bob has a beet train too!

Eric was our guide. He has been helping Bob with this layout for about 4 years. Thanks for opening to show us this amazingly overwhelming layout!. It's by far the largest N scale layout I've ever seen.

What's up with that last photo?  Is that a portable staging yard of sorts?

I didn't ask, but looks lake a storage drawer as I see what looks like drawer slides to left behind tray. There was way to much to see in an hour visit. it's a model railroader fantasy island by far.

Digital Dave has once again did a great job of photographing this layout. You ought to quit your day job and just photograph model layouts.

Pretty amazing and HUGE.  It reminds me of a museum type layout.

I see John is making him self at home. Glad to see Bob continues his labor of love with that beast of a model Railroad.

Must be fun working on the upper levels of layout in layout pics 1,2 and 7 .
And how d they reach the inner parts on the yards or the outer parts high above the stairs? No derailments or slit switch. Do the us scaffolding?

Awesome layout, building and,vision.

Thanks or sharing .

Beautiful. Are all the levels connected to each other or are they all separate? upkpfan

All the levels are connected from what I can tell. It's a true multiple layer \ level layout. At the top, the layout goes into a loft of the adjoining home. The loft looks down to the homes main level. To cool!

Jim, yes all the levels are acceptable by ramps and stairs with orange safety handrails! The layout was not running the hour or so we were there.

It was a mind blowing layout and I could have spent a day checking all that was completed.

Edit, Richmond Santa Fe roundhouse photo before China Basin San Francisco scene
