Model Railroading > AR-1 questionDate: 11/18/22 18:31 AR-1 question Author: espee99 I have two reversing loops, wired from the power supply directly to the ar-1 units. Most locos running on the layout pass through the loops without issue, however some shorter wheelbase units will only run one direction through the loops, in the opposite direction the loco stalls across the isullated rail joints.
I have followed the digitrax procedure to setup the amperage as outlined in the instructions, but still have an issue with smalll SW and Alco switcher units. Any advice? Victor B. Date: 11/19/22 06:59 Re: AR-1 question Author: WrongWayMurphy I had the same problem and staggered the gaps as recommended. A friend told me
to shorten the diff between the gaps to 1/4" apart and that solved my problem. Are you saying to spread the gaps or shorten the power section?

I think (without looking it up) the AR recommends the gaps be 3/4" from one another, and I changed that dimension to 1/4".
