Author: zgardner18

Hello everyone,

I just moved my family to Temecula, CA. and I am looking for anyone out here that is on this forum that lives near me. I am just looking to connect with any fellow model railroaders near me.

Thanks, Zak

I know it's a 1 hour drive but the clubs at the San Diego Model Railroad Museum in Balboa Park are well worth the trip.  I was a member for 20 years before moving away and it is a GREAT place to operate trains with a fantastic bunch of people.

You can use Fanfinder (left hand column at the bottom under the Library heading) here on T.O. to find members within certain mile distances from your zip code.

Hey Zak, if you never been to the San Diego model railroad museum at Balboa park, It's worth the hour trip south as other poster mentioned. Also, there is California southern lines in Norwalk. These are two I visited in the south.

The Southern California Railway Museum (Former Orange Empire Trolley Museum) a few miles north up I-215 holds a Swap Meet Ibekieve twice a year, the next is on March 4th 2023.
They have a lot of Model stuff for sale or trade.

Zak,

I'm a charter member of the La Mesa Model Railroad Club in the San Diego Model Railroad Museum.  All four clubs n the museum have railroads in O scale, HO, N scale, "tinplate" O scale operating daily except Monday from 11 AM to 4 PM.  See https://www.sdmrm.org/  You're also welcome to come visit  the La Mesa Club's work nights Tuesday nights, and while there usually aren't any trains running, you can look things over and talk to members about memebrship and/or coming events -- just come to the back (south) door that faces the parking lot and call the club at (619)233-8269 to get somene to open the door and let you in..

Meanwhile, much closer to Temecula, there is an N scale group called the Short Track Railroad that has crated a lovely model of the SP Donner Pass line in a building at the Antique Gas and Steam Engine Museum in Vista, between Escondido and Oceanside.  See https://www.agsem.com/ and http://www.shorttrackrr.org/.  The museum also has at least a couple of meets a year where people also operate steam tracctors and vintage agricultural machines and heavy equipment.
