Status of Rapido RSC-14
Author: puddlejumper

Is anyone in the know regarding the status of the RSC-14? I need a couple pairs of even spaced drop equalizer trucks for an RSC-3 project. The Frateschi RSC-3 just doesn’t have the detail level. I sent Rapido a message but they have not answered as of yet.
Thanks

The crew is in San Diego right now. I'm sure someone will contact you. Trainworld says the end of this month (March 2023) I'm waiting for the Wabash E8s to drop at EOM too.

Yes they do, look under the Detail Parts tab on their web page.

More parts there than I remember. Was able to track down a pack of plastic air horns from an ebay seller to avoid Rapido's postage fee to the U.S. ($22!). The brass horns look even better. I guess other parts not listed there might be available in limited quantities. I'll take a set of accurate E8 portholes and a pilot, please.

Rapido owns their factory, so they get any overruns of parts they want. Spare parts might just be another box stuck inside the next container. Years back I got skrewed by a distributor on the Santa Fe RDC set they ran, but I was able to get a set from the main office because their factory had run a number of extras and they packaged up all the extra sets and shipped them too. There seem to be a few advantages in creating their production operations in a place different than all the other manufacturers.

No, they don't own them, rather they are contracted to Rapido.
