After the 5771 rolls by with her streamlined consist, the 3014 will resume its run through the western Colorado desert...*inspired by a shot I saw today by Mel Patrick

I have a copy of Never On Wednesday of which Mel Patrick is co-author; bought it in the mid-1990's. Looks like you have the newer release of the Genesis F9 with the added details. The only thing Athearn didn't get right were the eyebrow grab irons over the windshields. Speaking of details, looks like that "nail" antenna is bent and needs straightened! When Athearn ran that newer (with details) F9A, I had to have it and sold my older 15 year old F9A that was without those details. Cool scene. Picked up ScaleTrains D&RGW GP30 #3014 because it had the older snow plow. I think they got the McCarty re-railers around 1980s so looks like the F9A hasn't had the grade crossing accident yet (Dec 1980?) which caused it to get that new "slimline" pilot. Yes, they did get dirty, but most never got so dirty you couln'd tell what was holding the dirt up! Soemwhere I have a slide of the 3014 leading the 3027 on a Denver to Pueblo freight. Now if I could just lay my fingers on it!! And yes, both after being repainted. And back to back. RR |
