American Hardware Supply
Author: Jimmies

I had always been interested in this kit from Walther's, but had never bought it.  Then I stumbled across it for a real nice price at the train show in Woodstock, Ontario back in January.  I don't actually have a place for it on the layout, but bought it anyway. I kind of wish I had two of these kits so I could bash them together to make the building larger.

I've enlarged the one loading door, shifted and extended the loading dock, painted and weathered the building, and blanked out a bunch of windows.  The windows at the far right in the first photo are filled in with concrete patch.

Here's just a couple of views of my American Hardware Supply as what is more or less a small diorama.

That looks great! And the window mullions don't look oversize as they often do with Walthers Industrial buildings!

Very nice. The random opaque window pains gives it a nice used look.

Nice job.  Now dirty up the concrete and give it some cracks to match the building.  Looks great!

The cracks in the concrete are there.  You just need to look a little closer.

Thank you.  I'm not sure just now, but I think that they're the same oversize that you refer to as they usually are.

I've got this kit in N Scale and haven't done anything with it since I've been doing more HO lately. This is inspiring me to build a little diorama or something. Great work.

Perhaps the color and weathering toned down the thickness of the mullions?

I heard a property developer has bought it and is going to turn it into loft apartments!
