More Kato sd80macs completed.
Author: csx4793

I recently finished up yet another pair of Kato sd80macs for conrail getting me closer to my goal of have the entire roster of the 30 numbers they had. I do a bunch off add on parts from details west and details associates and the like. These also received my new method of nose work on the front, instead of using the decals that aren't the greatest from microscale I cut a temple out of .60 styrene for my masking process and to me the results were definitely worth the effort, these also received working marker lights on all 4 corners and lok v5. Decoders. I also cut one of the windows on the engineer side of the 4109, as I plan to
model late September so the hogger will be enjoying the last of the warm days of 1996. Thanks for looking and happy modeling group.

Nicely done.  When I was an engineer for NS, i only got run a SD80MAC one time.  Not a fan of desktops.  With that being said, it was a beast.

Very nice work!  Did you use the "stock handrails" or something else?

I used the sock handrails, the next five I have started on the bench now will be getting all wire grabs abd I keep going back and forth on wether or not I want to cut the stantchions out and bend wire handrails as well.

Thanks.  I have two to complete and debate the handrail issue every time I work on them.

I don't think they are the worse looking things I've seen, imo they hold up a bit better too over other manufacturers and that's important to me as I don't have a home layout quite yet and I bring them back and forth to my local club.

They look good.  One of my biggest issue with Kato are their handrails but these look nice.
