RBBX 41406, my 18th car for my red unit Ringling Bros circus train. Car was recycled using a Walthers 10-6 sleeper. The conduit supports were a bit of a challenge for me. Ringling Budd corrugated cars used this layout for the supports of the roof electrical conduit. I'm happy with the results.

How long of a RBBX train are you shooting for?

I'm looking at between 40 to 50 cars. That includes the animal cars, the coaches, two container flats, 8 wagon/equipment flats, and bi-level auto car. I  nave enough cars to do the entire 2015 red unit train. Whether I can run a train that long, I don't know. John Rezuke runs a 30+ blue unit circus train, so I think it possible Finding a layout that big is another issue.

You are really doing some nice work on these cars.

Too bad with all the amazing details available for models these days, there don't seem to be any models of proper passenger car type "H" tightlock couplers.  Freight-style "E" couplers are so wrong on lightweight passenger cars.

Look into Inventive Models, he's picked up where Frank Sergent left off and has a type H coupler in the lineup.

Very nice work!  What's your secret for doing the windows?

I glue clear styrene to the back of the window and fill the window space with canopy glue.

OVERHEAD SHOT of one of the Red Unit coaches, taken on a southbound move through Amelia, Virginia on NS..... this shows the TOP of one coach (I don't know which one) and the ELECTRICAL CONDUIT CHANNEL.  The model cars in this series appear to be spot on!

FOR COMPARISON and modelers' sake, here is a CLOSE-UP view of a pair of the Blue Unit's coach roof-tops, showing the electrical conduit channels in greater detail.  The RED UNIT had identical channels on the tops of their cars. This photo was taken in Nashville, N.C. of the 9 coaches NC DOT acquired, and long before 4 of them burned up due to apparent arson -- and before NC DOT finally sold most of the others for scrap.
