Model Railroading > Rapido B50-15 Steel Side Box Car.Date: 09/18/23 14:12 Rapido B50-15 Steel Side Box Car. Author: ChrisCampi I couldn't resist the steel sided version of the SP B50-15 boxcar that's intended for my mid nineties excursion photo freight roster.
This car has been restored and lightly weathered in 1994 so paint is good but it's collecting dust living outdoors where it's run behind steam or vintage diesels a couple of times a year to give the rail fans something to look at. It never sees interchange and only runs on the home road. AB brakes have replaced the original K brakes. Rapido supplies the AB brake parts with the car. Very nice option although it's becoming clear that my eyesight is making these changes pretty hard these days. Light weathering with a few coats of Dull Coat, Ceramcoat Matte Acrylics and Brandon powders. ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 09/18/23 14:19 Re: Rapido B50-15 Steel Side Box Car. And they are going for less if you shop at the usual discount places like Lombard Hobbies. They have it priced at $46. I like the weathering job by the OP. Edited 1 time(s). My steel sided B-50-15 is slated for a similar operational scenario - a museum piece to operate on a rallfan photographer special behind preserved steam power. Well done!

It opens up so many possibilities to own or operate equipment one might not be able to otherwise if strictly sticking to an era. I'm even considering a stored, waiting to be restored area, with some serious basket cases. That could be some serious weathering fun! |
