I'm guessing that the shop up the road in Blue Ridge Summit PA has a bigger selection - especially HO.

I wish these folks the very best of success.  That said, being only about 15 minutes from Blue Ridge Summit, PA, this might have not been a great location choice.  Major competition pretty close by.  Anyway, I'm sure we all wish them well.

How much O Scale does that major competition stock?  Could be the niche this store needs to survive.

You must not be aware that Catoctin Mt. Trains and Hobbies occupied that large scale niche here in Thurmont from 1990-2015?
This new store pays homage to that business and even displays the former store's sign.
I attended today and business was brisk throughout the morning. I was only disappointed in the donuts...
The "famous" stores in Blue Ridge and Gettysburg won't be there forever.

"1990-2015" with regards to model railroad retailing is like talking about ANCIENT HISTORY.  The business is absolutely different, more competitive and extremely difficult for anyone starting up these days.  I hope they are very well capitalized and that their livelihood doesn't depend on profits from the store.

I don't really need a lecture from you on the difficulties of the model RR biz...

Sorry, wasn't trying to "lecture" anyone, but it was my career for many decades and I'm still involved at the periphery of the business.  Just offering my opinion.
