Coalmine superstructer and Rio Grande coal train
Author: SPDRGWfan

I've been working on building the Walthers coal mine kit which is based on the Edna coal mine on the Rio Grande craig branch but other mines have a similar look.  The mine comes moded in a silvery gray but I found a mine on the D&RGW that was an "off white" so I found some Krylon flat paint called clam shell that I liked the look of.  Here is the main super structure in the coal mine branch off the mainline.  Also now that I've got Decoder Pro working I've programmed the two ScaleTrains SD40T-2's that are DCC equipped pulling a 30 car coal train of ExactRail 3483 quad hoppers on the siding.

Cheers,
Jim Fitch

You have some great looking progress Jim. Nice looking mine and very clean looking layout. Cant wait to see that mine scene when you get more scenery done. Glad to see trains operating, well done Sir.

3-point suspension mean filing down the boss so one truck can be tightened so it swivels but does not rock at all, leaving the other truck looser so it can rock some.

Looks great!  A typical Rio Grande scene for sure.
