I've found that, with their 7FDL files and others, newer is not always better (sound quality wise). Plus, ESU is slowly reworking (many/most/all?) their LS5 diesel sound library so that you can have the option to have the loco idle more quietly and they seem to be doing those in no particular order. The ones they rework will appear as a brand new file in the library, even if it was reworked from an older file. So many other factors go into what makes a great sound file aside from how recent it was made, like if you can hear an annoying loop anomaly (subtle, repeating cat meowing sound seems to be a common one) or where the microphone was located during recording, etc. Edited 1 time(s). That may be helpful to sort out which file works out better.
+ Well, some of the files call it 'article number' and 'last change'. Searching by locomotive seems to be somewhat random results as well. Then checked the Internet page for the LHS that I buy from, they have a different nomenclature. The playback on the page itself doesn't seem to really demonstrate what advantages that file has. S0747 That's for an 7FDL 16 cyl locomotive. Date: 11/20/24 18:01 Re: DCC best ESU file to pick Author: Charls Thank you
