The most recent heritage loco is kind of a painful reminder of how a few of the New England railroads were dismantled, mashed together and renamed for questionable reasons. Other New England railroad names from seemingly happier times may have been better choices but they may not fit the heritage plan criteria. I wonder if fond memories are conjured up in the minds of ex-employees, fans or Joe Public at the sight of this heritage loco or any of the other 20?
