Model Railroading > Tampa Northern ooops.....Date: 04/26/25 05:38 Tampa Northern ooops..... Author: SALGUY Yesterday, the 25th, marked the first major derailment on the Tampa Northern. I was shoving my phosphate train up a small grade and this happened. Well, as a former class 1 engineer, I would say I had too many axles under power during a shove move and generated excessive buff forces on the head cars. Good thing I'm also the RFE and railroad superintendent as there will be no time served for this. As a matter of fact, I didn't even have to piss in a cup. LOL

I've done my own oopsies, including droppping a locomotive while transporting it back to the layout after working on it! :(
Nathan Date: 04/26/25 07:08 Re: Tampa Northern ooops..... Author: bobdavis Looks like the covered hoppers survived but I'm not sure about the status of what contained that motor sticking up in the background! Believe me, we've all done it at some point.

Always enjoy your photos. -John Date: 04/26/25 07:53 Re: Tampa Northern ooops..... Author: SALGUY bobdavis Wrote:

Author: jdw3460 It happens to everyone, sooner or later. Here's one we had during an open house. A Clinchfield crew got a little over-enthusiastic while assisting a C&O train out of Elkhorn City yard. No injuries.

At 64 years old I've never consumed alcohol. This little mess isn't going to get me started. DB Date: 04/26/25 12:39 Re: Tampa Northern ooops..... Author: SALGUY wpdude Wrote:

However, as a former class 1 engineer, that would absolutely be their response. I did have 18 powered axles on line for this shove move! Date: 04/26/25 12:40 Re: Tampa Northern ooops.....
