Model Railroading > Machine shop finishing up ...

This machine shop project is drawing close to a conclusion and it's damn exciting considering all the 30-plus years I've been looking at the mockup and thinking about this. With the machine shop in place, the balance of the scenery and finishing work on Central Camp can proceed. It's exciting moments like this that keep the hobby interesting. The paperwork in this photo is the information sheet I posted with the in-progress machine shop at the recent Westside Reunion convention in Tuolumne, California. It explains the inside door/outside door situation with the model and prototype photo.

The second photo shows the slightly-too-small mockup in place on the layout.

Thank you Chris. I just applied the final Dullcote to the roof this morning, and it's damn exciting to be at this stage of finally finishing this "signature" structure on the layout.

Now on to scenery!

Congratulations! Mock-ups are a good practice and stir your imagination, until you get the final structure in place.

No, but that can happen too! Not the same thing, but Tony Koester once made a comment about putting stand-in structures on your layout. He said that they can grow on you. And  you end up leaving it there. That's why I rather use mock-ups.
