Custom Rapido Amtrak E8's
Author: kecarden

This morning, I took the opportunity to capture morning shots of the Silver Meteor as it rapidly traversed through Virginia. The units are approximately 85 percent finished, with remaining tasks consisting of horn replacement, number board updates to the 400 series, and installation of the mu hose and air line.

Great comment.   (sarcasm)

They look great, especially after seeing the prototype pic.

Some of the most realistic weathering I have ever seen!

The prototype appears to have a Nathan M3 or M5, while the model looks like it has a Leslie horn.

Which is why he listed "horn replacement" in the original post

Wow, that thing is filthy, even for an Anthrax unit!
We should be so proud of our passenger service. No silly stuff like Europe and Japan.

I love the Anthrax name, I used to work for the "Pointless Arrow" and indeed social and/or mental illness was evident with some of the bosses I had to work with.

Why the snarky reply? He didn’t do this amazing weathering job for you, he did it for himself and others who appreciate his artistic vision. If you don’t like it move on, no reason to run others down with your opinions. There are plenty of times I scrolled past your nonsense. RG

There is something very cool about real sunlight in a photo of a model.....looks fantastic. Makes the weathering look even better.
Taken outdoors?

Amazing work. I'm wondering what the state of the unit was when it was captured in the photo. Was it still in service? Or maybe recently retired?
