Model Railroading > 100% Extra Tariffs on Chinese Imported Goods Likely OffDate: 10/26/25 15:01 100% Extra Tariffs on Chinese Imported Goods Likely Off Author: UP951West CBS news reported 5 hours ago that US Treasury Sec'y Scott Bessent said the the 100% additional tariffs on Chinese imported goods are "effectively off the table." due to better than expected progress on tariff talks with China .A final decision will come the end of this week while Trump is in Asia.
It appears the tariff situation for the model train hobby will improve from earlier reports . Hooray . Trump's tariff increases have been an attempt to get foreign countries to lower their (in most cases) extremely high tariffs on US goods going to those countries. There has been anything but free trade from the US to many foreign countries for decades.

High? or Low? How will the current final China tariff "end result" compare to pre 2024 tariffs.....better I hope?.....or worse? My friend just paid an extra $16.00 for tariff upcharge for an HO engine shipped from China..not too extreme.....
