Model Railroading > Scum Victimizing Model RR Club

The Tri-City Model Railroaders in Kennewick, WA (next to Pasco and Richland on the Columbia River in SE Washington) have been broken into twice in the past few days. On Saturday night someone smashed a window next to the entrance then smashed a display case taking several items within. Then on Tuesday night the guy returned with a couple friends for another round of looting. The smashed the entry door and took several more items from the store front and a NP passenger train from the layout. A pair of Minneapolis & St Louis Athearn Genesis F-units was among the items taken. Both HO and N scale items were taken. If they post a list of the stolen items, I will post it here.

That sucks.  Sorry to hear about this.

Hope somebody recognizes their stuff if thieves try to sell it.

Jewelry stores, smash and grab department stores, understandable targets.....but a simple model train shop??? Now things are really getting bad.....very sad.

Time to invest in steel security doors and bars for the windows. 

unfortunately model train shops and jewelry stores will have to have metal bars

I visited prominent  jewelry store last year, and I was required to call them from the outside of the store before they would let me in.

We had a hobby shop broken into (Hobbyland) here in Fort Wayne, Indiana, some years ago. They broke in and broke the glass case with N scale trains and took those only from what I was told.

Unfortunately Oregon is one of those states where they will do absolutely nothing due to the monetary value of what was stolen

From what I understand Califorina was doing that too, but that got changed due to public outcry from the public.

I read that California reduced the pentalty for thefts under $950 to be a misdemeanor. Did that change?
