Lumber load in the shadow of Mt Shasta
Author: dmaffei

At the long gone mill in Mt Shasta. Good detail shot of the early style loading. Owl Mountain load by Jason style load. What I found interesting is what looks like banding between upright boards holding load. Never noticed this, but I do the 70s divided loads that came after this. Happy Halloween to all.

That banding had a tendency to snap apart and flail along the sides of a moving train. Woe be it to the brakeman who stood too close while giving a roll by. Nasty stuff.
