Question about eBay
Author: wabash2800

I have a 100% rating, communicate well with my customers and ship on time. Once in a while, eBay puts the funds from a sale on hold until the item is delivered. There are no disputes involved.

Is this an option for the buyer, has something to do with what kind of payment service they are using or something that eBay does on a random basis? eBay is very vague about this.

I buy a lot of train items on EBay and have done so for several years. To this date I have never had any option on my end to use a payment option that would delay or temporarily freeze funding to the reseller.

However, I could see debit card based payments, Venmo and PayPal transactions funded from a checking account having a delay or 48hr hold on your end. Why that would be difficult for them to explain doesn’t exactly build faith or trust does it.

I haven’t noticed an option when buying they would let me delay payment. Either that’s an eBay thing or something to do with the type of payment selected.

I have been buying and selling on ebay for more than 15 years.   I have never noticed them doing this.    Under the current system it does take several days for ebay to deposit the funds from sales to my registered checking account but this is normal with the system in place now.

eBay puts money on hold in certain categories and if the buyer or seller is an infrequent user. Also if the item is high-priced, like a car.

Thanks, but I've been buying and selling on eBay consistantly for about 26 years and the item sold was for $30.00.

eBay specifically stated it would put the funds on hold on that order until it was delivered. I had other orders, including one right before that, that didn't get the same treatment. Sounds like a stupid AI alogrithm. I suppose that is what we have to look forward to when AI takes over.

I think holding payment until delivery is an Ebay thing to make sure the buyer gets their purchase...a responsive seller should not have to go through that but it's the people who take order and sell nothing that ruin it for everybody....
