Model Railroading > Santa Fe RSD15’sDate: 11/24/25 12:00 Santa Fe RSD15’s Author: CPR_4000 When did Santa Fe modify the RSD15 air intakes? At some point they enlarged the one under the dynamic brake assembly, presumably to provide better air flow. Also, when were they renumbered to the 9800's?

Date: 11/26/25 13:07 Re: Santa Fe RSD15’s Author: SCAXEngr According to a Diesel Era November/December 2011 article about Santa Fe RSD15's "...by about the middle of 1962, Santa Fe cut a square notch in the middle of the long hood on some RDS15's, replacing the fifth carbody air filter out of seven, for the purpose of providing greater cooling to the dynamic brakes, which were also rebuilt."
