Athearn GP9 Sill Skirts

Hey all, I'm putting togethre plans to model BNSF 1604, an ex NP GP9. Looks like Athearn Genesis is the best starting point, but both their closest BN and NP GP9s have a different style of frame sill over the fuel tank. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me how tough it would be to make these changes? Thats me with 1604 in Burlington, IA in 1999. Thanks!

I would do what BN did and just cut out the skirt you don't need like they did.
