Livin’ Large, a scratchbuilt gon, in 1.5” scale
Author: WrongWayMurphy

Just finished up on this 5 ft. long (40 ft scale) outside braced composite gondola.

I welded angle iron to make the frame and side bracing, 2" x 1" tube runs the length of the underframe as the backbone, then plywood for sides and ends.  Commercial Tom Bee trucks and couplers and vinyl stickers from Miracle Graphics were the parts from outside vendors.

This isn't modeled after a specific car, just a generic car with a Katy look.

Google "Windy Ridge Short Line"

Next week this will be trailered with others cars and loco to Midland Tx

Then two weeks later to McKinney, Tx

Then 2 weeks after that, Nacogdoches, Tx

Pretty much every other week in Spring there is a meet somewhere in Texas
