Model Railroading > Tiger Stripes 'n Trolley Poles continued..Date: 03/03/26 21:50 Tiger Stripes 'n Trolley Poles continued.. Author: BoilingMan The PE leased power from the SP. Usually Baldwins, but the snagged the 1009 too (an SW1) They didn't bother to reletter the 1009, but they did add trolley poles to activate the PE's signals and grade crossings. I simply did the same..

The pole on the hood of the 1009 looks like they made a forward move and bent it a bit, just like the protoype, and the occasional move at Perris.
Date: 03/04/26 08:08 Re: Tiger Stripes 'n Trolley Poles continued.. Author: BoilingMan The Stewart/Bowser Baldwin came with poles to be added- one piece cast plastic parts. Instead, the poles I added are older brass and sprung. They’re off an old brass interurban.
I put the cast poles on the SW1. The rear pole on the cab roof stuck WAY out, past the coupler, and had to be shortened a bit! The plastic one was far easier to modify. SR BTW: Both locomotives were formerly SP4360’s- he was culling his roster a bit and gave me first dibs. He had an extra PE AS-615 (dibs!) and the SW1 which, in an extraordinary stroke of luck, happened to be the 1009- the very # I needed, as it was one leased to the PE. Thanks Dale- I’ll highball responsibly. (Pretty sure there’s a pun there somewhere…. ) Date: 03/05/26 17:28 Re: Tiger Stripes 'n Trolley Poles continued.. Author: atsf121 Looks good! I’ve always liked the tiger stripes, I remember the Sacramento museum had one way back when. And the trolley poles on the PE units are sure unique.
