Model Railroading > Painting a Plated Passenger Car?Date: 03/18/26 06:23 Painting a Plated Passenger Car? Author: BoilingMan I’m considering painting an older SOHO plated car- any advice?
(Besides “Forget it”. I kinda got that) Thanks SR Posted from iPhone Date: 03/18/26 09:28 Re: Painting a Plated Passenger Car? Author: ATSFSuperCap You can paint nickel plating just the same as brass. I have done it many times it does not make any difference. The old SOHO Daylight cars are all plated and most got painted in full Daylight paint years ago. Most recently I painted a SOHO Pullman Standard ATSF 44 seat chair car with Allclad 2 super bright aluminum, it is just fine.

SR Date: 03/20/26 09:09 Re: Painting a Plated Passenger Car? Author: superchief73 Start with a clean car, dip in lacquer thinner and soak to remove the clear cote. Primer the car: SEM Self Etching Primer works well. Let dry and closely look at the overall assembly for smothness. Paint and mask for desired colors.
