Model Railroading > Expanding my BNSF Fire train w/ Tangent NACC 20.5K tanks (update)Date: 03/27/26 20:57 Expanding my BNSF Fire train w/ Tangent NACC 20.5K tanks (update) Author: MrMRL Just got my three "painted/undecorated" Tangent NACC 20.5K tank cars... Time to begin custom/freelance modifying them for BNSF fire service! First car already disassembled very easily, I'm amazed that that entire ladder/upper walkway/handrail is a single injection molded plastic detail. Plenty more to come in the following days/weeks.
MR. MRL ~ happy modeling Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 03/29/26 20:44 by MrMRL. Date: 03/29/26 20:44 Re: Expanding my BNSF Fire train with Tangent NACC 20.5K tanks Author: MrMRL My HO scale BNSF Fire Train expansion modifications have begun folks... After careful dis-assembly of the Tangent 20.5K models, I rattle canned the tank car ends with Tamiya Gloss Pure Red (TS-86). Next, some red sharpie marker application to the lower wire grabs. Along with brush painting some of the lower coupler and car-frame sections to a flat black appearance, similar to the prototypes.
Next to come will include decals from various various Microscale sets to replicate generic black tank car data, BNSF lettering and logos, and safety stripes. Then some sort of custom "water" piping and fire apparatus, and possibly some fire fighting figures along the upper walkways. ~ Mr. MRL Date: 03/30/26 22:18 Re: Expanding my BNSF Fire train with Tangent NACC 20.5K tanks Author: CPR_4000 Nice to know it comes apart so easily. I'm thinking of getting one to shorten.
