Mid Morning Set Out.
Author: ChrisCampi

Today's quiet spring morning is interrupted by the local setting out four loads for the cement plant.

We catch it just in time to see the train backing down on the spur. The engineer has a healthy set on the train brakes and has bailed off the independent. As the train brakes start to set up he counters with the throttle until he gets a "that'll do!" from the brakeman riding the point. One hand on the throttle and the other on the independent, he shuts the throttle and applies the independent at the same time allowing him to stop on a dime (almost).

After setting a couple handbrakes, the brakeman walks back, closes the angle cock on the box, and uncouples the cement hoppers and rides back to the main where he clears the points, lines the turnout back to the main and walks back up to the cab. The crew is off to their next stop at the wire manufacturing plant.

Fun times on the old SP.

Nice Chris, thanks for posting. I love the sounds of a Geep. Only problem is only one Geep when Espee was notorious for pairs out doing business. Im sure Athearn wouldn't mind you buying another. Lol Keep up the good work.

Thanks Guys. Tom, I don't run multiple units on my locals because I have to many short tail tracks where the extra length would be a problem.
