Model Railroading > Need suggestion on direct replacement for Digitrax Super Chief

Looks like my Digitrax Super Chief purchased new in June 2003 is at end-of-life.  Need replacement system that will go in wire-for-wire and work with DT 400 and 500 series throttles.  Open to working used systems as well as new systems.

You might consider buying a used Digitrax Super Chief set up from EBay. Used electronics is questionable but it would fit right in with your existing equipment and throttles.

Throttles and power boosters can be a hobby of it's own. Upgrading would need new throttles and perhaps additional circuit breakers etc. New and shiny has it's attractions though. Going to a formal redesign would be a pretty big field of new and improved equipment and lots of shakeout, not necessarily a drop in replacement.

It is an interesting topic.

Well don't just leave us hanging, lol.

Deal is really not completed until I have received the electronics and let them "burn in" for 48 hours.  Will let you know when system is running my layout.  John

Got a DB 150, DT 402, and miscellaneous other stuff in a package from eBay.  Put the DB 150 in place of my DCS 100 and everything running fine.  Burned in for almost 48 hours with track power on and 3 passenger trains including ALCO RS-3s (Athearn, Kato) and lighted coaches, one 2-car Rapido RDC set, and an ALCO Models 2000-44 that had been rebuilt with NWSL powered trucks and DCC Sound.  All the RS-3s were DCC with sound, and one of them had been rebuilt with NWSL powered trucks and Soundtrak DCC sound.  When I get some technician help, I need to split layout into 2 power districts and put the DCS 100 back on-line.
