Model Railroading > A Railfan Habitat

I am in the process of moving in to a retirement apartment complex in Vancouver, WA.  They invite residents to put out little personal exhibits so here is mine.
1. Heading south on the second floor, what is that stuff out in front of #226?
2.  Well look at that, a Black Widow GP-9 and a bay window cab, with a tiny little oil painting to boot.
3  Bending down here is a closer look.
I painted that little scene on a pre-stretched canvas and simply carried it over the sides, making a little free-standing piece.   Over the inerveneing 40 or so years I have always found a niche for it.  It is one of a very few oil paintings I have done.
This is a Walthers DCC Sound loco and an Athearn cab, with a bit of weathering.
Over this next weekend I plan to rotate out the SP set and put out a BN RS-3 and a Rapido International Car Co caboose.
I hope to hold on to the house in Washougal, WA and finish up some projects on my Southwestern Pacific before it all goes away.  I have already sold off or donated a lot of rolliing stock.

Looks like a nice place! What are the accommodations like?

The Quincy, IL model railroad club has been in the basement of one of the local nursing homes since the mid 70's. They host an open house every year for the public, and it was a thing I loved to go see as a kid

Looks like a nice place, and I like how they have new residents put out a little "info" display about themselves.  My kids liked visiting my mother-in-law at her place and my wife and I had fun getting to know the residents.  They even had subscriptions to a few of the different model and real railroad magazines, which my kids and I would grab on the way in!
