Model Railroading > When and where if at all did this unit exist ?Date: 08/23/26 09:16 When and where if at all did this unit exist ? Author: Highhood I have seen ( at General Electric ) a large number of heavy weight flat cars but never one with this axle configuration.
so I am curious as to where they would normally be found operating out of. and yes I have seen 8 axle flat cars but they never look like this. SP had them and I recall several together, empty, southbound in Tacoma WA. After the UP/SP merger I have seen them with other marks but dont recall that fine point.

Looks like mostly transformer loads and things. These do seem a bit longer than the car in your image, but it's hard to tell for sure

Author: LarryDoyle Several variations appear in the 1957 Car Builders Cyclopedia, with 4 wheel trucks 6 wheel trucks, or 8 wheel trucks, and with flat decks or depressed center.
