Model Railroading > Scaletrains SD70ACe HO and N

Scaletrains announced the NS 250 scheme SD70iAC units, which means they can do SD70ACe and SD70M-2's.

Why another player? Well the units are still being built brand new and I count over 45 paint schemes between the ACe and M-2's currently and I'm sure more to come. Even if every company did 5-6 schemes every other year, that's not a ton of over lap and money is to be made.

Good point.  Let's not forget that Scale Trains is not anohter player with SD70Ace.  They purchsed MTH tooling and assets years ago and did nothing with it.

Scaletrains has said several times, all of their purchases of former models have had to be completely redone. Not that the lines were bad investments, just the tooling had to be completely updated. Drawings and research obviously helped the process.

I was at Spencer and heard it directly from Shane at Scale trains that the SD70IAC is all new tooling, NOT MTH.

I have pre ordered a BNSF ES44ACH 250 diesel this afternoon from Spring Creek Model Trains.
Estimated delivery date is Sept. , 2027. 

Oh the humanity in HO scale! In N scale, there is Kato and Broadway Limited, and the ex FVM that ScaleTrains purchased but like the GEVOs had to be retooled as key molding was lost and was cheaper and easier to redesign it as their Rivet Counter line.

Both Kato and BLI have molded on details, the ScaleTrains definitely will not. I will gladly retire my Kato and FVM fleet of ACe's (and GEVOs) for Rivet Counter versions of them.
