Model Railroading > UP Challenger and Big Boy Drawings DVDs

Hi everyone, I’m brand new to the forum. Gemini pointed me here, and after paying the $40 to join I’m hoping someone can help me track something down.

I’m looking for the DVD drawing files for the Union Pacific Challenger and Big Boy steam locomotives that were originally available through the Union Pacific historical archive. Gemini claimed those discs have been being converted to a new format about four years now and there hasn’t been a peep since.

If anyone here owns the original discs or has the raw files from them, I’d really appreciate hearing from you. Maybe we can work something out.

Sorry if this has been asked before still getting my bearings here and searching for something pretty specific.

Have you contacted the UPHS ?

No, I figured they would just give a typical “They will be available when they are available” response. They have been “sold out” for almost four years and I’m not going to hold my breath that they will be done anytime soon. The UW archives they made the discs from only has 50 drawings available and from what I have found in my research there should be over 2000 drawings. I was hoping to find someone here with those discs.

there is live steam outfit in southern california that sells them for 1.5 inch steam

Those drawings are only 59 out of 2000+. This is not for a making a scale model, I intend to make a full CAD project from them. I figured this would probably be the best forum because scale model makers are after accuracy -like me. The plans are also $370 for the locomotive and $140 for the tender. The plans on the UPHS for all the drawings combined (4000+ drawings) are only $80. I don't need the paper drawings, I want the digital drawings to convert them into 3D CAD models.
