Model Railroading > Jack Chiddix Hawaiian Layout 30 August 2026

Jack Chiddix of Evergreen, Colorado, opened his Hawaiian based Oahu Railway & Land Company layout to visitors Sunday, 30 August 2026.  Layout includes station and pineapple plantion.  Jim authored 'Next Stop Honolulu, The Story of the Oahu Railway & Land Company' published in 2004.

What scale is this? It looks big.

Thanks for sharing. IIRC, there is a video on his model railroad out there. It's quite impressive.

Jack is a wildly inventive modeler- he buys off-the-shelf steam locomotives and changes their gauge to suit (!!)
He 3-D prints pineapples for his loads.

I’ve not been to see his layout, but he has a place here in Santa Barbara and he has a work bench where he dabbles a bit.

Look for "History and Tour of Oahu Railway" on the tube (half an hour video). Also, I think there is a promotional video there on his extensive history book on the railroad.
