Passenger Trains > Whither PV 800233 "Tamalpais?"Date: 05/15/08 13:54 Whither PV 800233 "Tamalpais?" Author: Evan_Werkema An outfit called General Rail Corporation used to have ex-Santa Fe business car 33, rebuilt as PV 800233 "Tamalpais," available for charter out of Oakland, CA. It was a frequent addition to the Reno Fun Train, or the Zephyr as a charter to Reno, NV. I haven't seen the car in a while, though, and it no longer domiciles at the OTR facility in Oakland. General Rail's web page appears to be down. Anyone know what became of the car and where it is now?

Date: 05/15/08 14:23 Re: Whither PV 800233 "Tamalpais?" Author: JBB THE CAR HAS BEEN SOLD AND RECEIVING A NUMBER OF MECHANICAL UPDATES WHICH WILL MAKE IT MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE. THE CAR IS AT SALINAS AND I DO NOT HAVE A DATE FOR THE COMPLETION OF THE MANY
IMPROVEMENTS THE NEW OWNER HAS COMMISSIONED. I AM PLEASED TO SHARE THIS INFORMATION AS A FORMER OWNER OF THIS CAR , AS WELL AS A LATER STOCKHOLDER OF GENERAL RAIL. NO DOUBT THE NEW OWNER WILL BRING US UP TO SPEED AS REPAIRS AND UPDATES ARE COMPLETED. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST. JOHN BALDWIN Date: 05/15/08 17:24 Re: Whither PV 800233 "Tamalpais?" When I bought my car from Tom Guilbault in 1975 and named it Susan Marie, he then took that money to buy Santa Fe 33. I've always kept in touch with that car when possible, and I'm glad to get this update. I lost touch with Tom many years ago. Does anyone have an update on him?
