Passenger Trains > 73, 74 in June

"We will be doing trackwork between Charlotte and Salisbury. Piedmont train service will operate on its regular schedule between Raleigh and Salisbury. Bus service will be provided between Salisbury and Charlotte.

Trackwork Dates:
Sundays–Wednesdays
June 8 – 11
June 15 – 18
June 22 – 25

Carolinian (Trains 79, 80) will operate on regular schedule."

They're increasing superelevation in curves or replacing the remaining equilateral turnouts at the transitions between single track and double track, or both. Salisbury-Charlotte currently has a lot of 60-65 mph curves. Intent is to bring almost the entire Charlotte-Greensboro-Raleigh-Selma route to 79 mph.

In another five years, Charlotte-Greensboro should be back to 100% double track. That will bring the total capital investment Charlotte-Selma to around $150 million over 15 years. The last segment of the new CTC was recently activated between Raleigh and Selma, with new sidings.
