Passenger Trains > Good Lookin' Baby Builder

Last light for train 28 east of Towal this past Friday. Nice to have a locomotive that matches the hight on the superliners. I heard the next day 468 or 9 was on the point of train 28, though 27 came in with a P42. Not sure if the P42s are crapping out in bunches but maybe they caught what ever the F59s had. Any one know what's been up with 27/28 power in Portland?

Kyle, I've lost track of what day it was but Friday sounds good. 27 came in, was turned, and the power taken off. Cascades 513 came in, unloaded, was turned on the "Y", power taken off, and added to 28. 28 departed with the power from 513. 513 becomes 508. A BNSF GP38M was added to 508 and it departed close to OT.

Very nice!. Like the touch of foreground color. Tough exposure but you caught it right and nice presentation.

Any secret on how you metered you wish to share??

The Northwest F59s add a nice touch to the Baby Builders. I think they should represent both the Baby Builder and Empire Builder trains in the Northwest. I love the Cascades paint scheme.

My secrets? Um... "test shots" (thanks to digital) using manual focus and some luck as the sun started to drop behind the hills (2 min later and there would be no sun rays). Nothing too fancy or advanced.

Found my notes:

#27 came in with the #92 on it. It was "Y"ed and the #92 removed.

#513 came in with the #465. The whole train was "Y"ed and then the #465 was taken off and put on the Builder.

BNSF2870 was put on the Talgo that was to become #508.

#14 got in the picture and departed at 5:42PM.

#28 departed at 5:46PM.

#508 with BNSF2870 was out OT.

I'd prefer to keep the stainless steel facade on the Supeliners, but I'd love to see a Cascades painted F59 on every Superliner train.

Just out of curiosity, how do the F59's compare to the Genesis locomotives in fuel economy and availability? Would the F59's be able to handle the harsh winters in the Midwest?

Have to agree, that F59 looked perfect runnin' 28 that evening! Anyone know why the P42 wasn't assinged?
