Strange doings at Harrisburg
Author: mp109

Thursday's images on the Harris webcam show no. 42 arriving late behind two NS SD40-2's. Then it appears to show no. 43 leaving twice! However, the first time it appears to be switching as it only has the coaches and no cafe car. Later it leaves with the full 5 car consist but almost two hours late!

That 42 got to NYPS almost 3 hours late. Can't blame NS on that one.

Train 42's engine had a ground fault coming to Johnstown, so NS provided two engines for traction power from there to Harrisburg.

Train 43 had a train-parting at New York. Both the engine and the first car, the food car, were shopped there, so the train departed 1'16" late, with a replacement engine and without a food car.

Train 42 arrived Harrisburg 1'37" late and was delayed in cutting off the NS engines and adding the Amtrak "protect" engine at Harrisburg, and it departed 1'52" late. Train 42 also cut the food car off the rear to give to Train 43, which arrived in Harrisburg without a food car, so Train 43 had a food car from Harrisburg to Pittsburgh, and Train 42 on Friday has one from Pittsburgh to New York.

Train 43 arrived Harrisburg 1'12" late and departed 1'14" late, after adding the food car.

Now imagine if that were during Frate Folly with 30 car consist and they had to shuffle food cars at Harrisburgh.
