You can either book via amtrak.com or call AGR at 1-800-307-5000.

To book via amtrak.com go to the home page and select the "Reservations" tab. On the right hand side under Reservation Options, click on "Redeem Rewards Points".

Note that there are many restrictions on what you can redeem points for on the website. I suggest that call the 800 number instead and reserve through an agent for the most flexibility. They are very helpful and will set you up with what you want if at all possible.

I don't think you can book a sleeper online, can you? Last I checked (and it's been several months) is that a sleeper must be booked through an AGR agent.

Still that way. Saw when I was looking at booking something last night.

I have tried online but the phone works real well and actually seems quicker.

If you wish to book anything other than coach accommodations, you must call the 800 number during normal business hours.

"normal" business hours usually infers 8-5 pm. AGR normal hours are 8 AM- 8 PM Eastern.

How many points are needed for a trip in the sleeper to the east coast from LA round trip?

3 zone roomette one way 35,000 AGR points x2 (round trip) = 70,000 AGR points
3 zone bedroom one way 50,000 AGR points x2 (round trip) = 100,000 AGR points
