Passenger Trains > ACE 3 struck by foul trailer on UP at StocktonDate: 12/17/09 07:05 ACE 3 struck by foul trailer on UP at Stockton Author: TopCat Good Morning,
Altamont Commuter Express train No. 3 at Stockton (C.A.) was possibly struck by a foul trailer on a UP Piggyback train this morning. I guess a Northbound UP Piggyback had a trailer on flatcar that was not in it's proper space and struck the engine (on the rear) of the ACE train coming out of the WP yard on it's way over to the "SP" depot. No injuries to ACE crew (although I think the engineer needed a change of shorts). ACE 3 will be delayed this morning into San Jose. Any Stockton T.O.ers have any other info? TopCat Edited 1 time(s). That would be the third time in two months ACE trains have been struck by shifted loads/open doors on stack/TOFC trains. Way to be, UP. Way to be.

Many riders had opted to drive, as the train was practically empty. We then picked up another 13 minute delay on the Coast Line after Newark while we waited for a Capitol Corridor train to pass us. I'm not sure why we had to let him by - our dwell time at Great America was pretty short this morning with the light load, and his delay, if any, would have been shorter than our wait for him to pass.
Just one of those mornings that happen occasionally in the lives of train commuters. |
