I'm train 11. We are stopped outside of Lathrop waiting for a UP track crew to finish repairing and testing a switch. Once we get the all clear, I expect for us to move into Lathrop to turn the train south.

Intermittent radio traffic has been heard from what sounds like the detouring Coast Starlight, Train 11(10).
This would indicate that it's probably out of Bakersfield; if so, this puts it about an hour behind yesterday's detour.

Meanwhile, engineer of a freight on Tehachapi has reported an Amtrak bus at a grade crossing at mp380 (?)
stopped with crossing gate on top of bus and with the passengers "standing around." Train missed the bus by
less than four feet, by engineer's estimate; and the last he saw, the bus was still sitting there.

380 is in Mojave - no CHP reports of such an incident, which would probably be at the Jawbone branch crossing...

I made some inquiries. Turns out it was a BNSF channel on the radio feed, and the milepost wasn't "380" but "780"
(the radio feed was weak and noisy). This would put it on the BNSF Mojave Sub, four miles east of Boron.

EDIT: more info:

Dan Monroe, who is more familiar than I with that area, describes the
crossing:
