Passenger Trains > Amtrak #2 with 5 PV's on 01/04/2012Date: 01/08/12 17:29 Amtrak #2 with 5 PV's on 01/04/2012 Author: professor Amtrak #2 departed LAUPT on 01/04/2012 with the following PV's: Pacific Sands, Pacific Union, NYC 448 (diner), Southern Hospitality (#7007 dome car), and Royal Street bringing up the markers.

Date: 01/08/12 19:58 Re: Amtrak #2 with 5 PV's on 01/04/2012 Author: railstiesballast The Sunset is the former SP Chairman's car, SP 150 IIRC, it was fluted stainless steel sides with the red letter board to match the Sunset Limited (and later all of SP's passenger cars). I think the UP keeps it on the west coast, and it is not unusual to see it. I guess it is as attractive as a yellow train can be.

I checked my camera from the back-in at LAUPT and see that the other one is the Stanford. Man, they take amazing care of these cars- immaculate! We went into emergency somewhere between San Timoteo Canyon and Banning, but thankfully we just missed the knucklehead who tried to beat us.
