NY MetroNorth opens upper Hudson line
Author: Lackawanna484

The news reports that MetroNorth has opened the section of the Hudson Line between Croton-Harmon and Poughkeepsie for weekend train service. The report doesn't say whether both tracks are open, or if electric service has been restored.

Amtrak uses this section of the line for its Albany to New York Penn operations. It's not known when Amtrak will restore its own service, which connects at both ends to MetroNorth.

Electrification ends at Croton-Harmon, doesn't it? So diesels run from there to Poughkeespie?

Right.

I thought the original notice from the other day mentioned that the diesels would be providing service until the third rail etc was activated in the damaged sections around Scarborough, Mount Saint Vincent, Yonkers, etc.

That could explain the dual mode diesels (only) in the first wave of recovery.
