Despite final destination (Santa Cruz), the PV must have been cut off between Colorado and Auburn CA. Not on #5 today.

If that PV Car departed Chicago THURSDAY 11-16, that train gets to California on SATURDAY 11-17.
Amtrak Trains 5 and 6 consume 1 SOLID DAY (Daytime hours) running from Denver to Salt Lake City (FRIDAY 11-16-12).
I think you were looking 1 DAY EARLY for this trainset .
Try Tomorrow (SATURDAY 11-17-12) Amtrak Train 5 into California SAC - MTZ - EMY area.
