What a way-out design. I guess it will go good with the new capital of the USA. It is supposed to be Denver and also Atlanta. I guess we will have to see what happens in the future. But for now, this train shed sure looks far-out.

Why does it look like it is collapsing already or don't I appreciate modern art forms? Where is Frank Lloyd Wright when we need him?

Considering it looks like it is following natural parabolics, I think Frank might have appreciated it. 'course he would probably prefer it in wood or copper.

I actually like it. Looks like a more organic take on sheds I saw in Europe. Of course, you can often never tell until something like this is done. Some things look hideous being built and end up beautiful. And vice versa.

To me it looks more like some of the high speed stations in China.

No, not at all - if it were China it would actually
look either 21st Century of 19th Century - not BOTH.

I guess Americans still want to be European while
holding on to the past as well.

The facade should remain beautiful. Damn shame they
chose to wreck the rear. Looks like cheese burgers
and ice cream - I like both, but not pressed up
against each other on the same plate.

Here's a Google page with some before and after
perspectives:

So what was wrong with the old station that it could not be used for commuter trains with Amtrak ?

It's looking great, but please put back the run-through tracks. No nonsense...

Why only 4 tracks with no room to expand?

You know, I looked at the pictures at the DUST site and all of them show a station during the summer. In the winter the wind will howl through that structure and make travel miserable!

Why is this thread wider than all the rest. The sentences run out of sight to right or left.

Because of a gigantic url that someone inserted in a reply instead of using tinyurl.com to make it smaller.

A single-ended Train Station and a big hole in the middle of the roof? I must be missing something.

It's an eyesore and an abortion.

The term "form follows function" has gone out that hole.

With all the bucks they've made on the surrounding Real Estate development you would think they would have a little understanding of concepts like... roof and train station.

...oh.
<sarcasm strike again>
