The recovery process for Train 55’s wrecked engine and cars continues: Engine AMTK 102: The carbody of AMTK 102 is loaded on a flatcar in the Montpelier Jct. yard. It needs to be secured, hazardous material stabilized, and shrink-wrapped for movement. Dimensions will have to be verified, which should be done by Wed. evening. CSXT and NECR will have to verify clearances, then NECR can schedule a movement to Palmer for interchange to CSXT. AMTK 82716, 82700 These two cars can not be moved on their wheels and are also in the Montpelier Jct. yard. Both will have to be moved on flatcars which have been ordered, with a transit time of 7-10 days. They will be interchanged to NECR at Brattleboro. AMTK 82682, 82694, 48158 These cars are to move in a hospital train from Montpelier Jct. to Bear, DE. FRA clearance will be required before they can be moved, and that has been requested, with a maximum speed of 50mph. Pending inspection, the cars are to move on their own wheels, which will be changed out at Bear. A gondola car to handle material removed from the recovered equipment has been ordered.
